A group from Lupe O Le Fáaolataga Church assemble outreach kits.
Host an outreach kit-making party and make a difference for unsheltered neighbors!
Hosting a kit-making party is a fun and impactful way to help those living outdoors. Street outreach teams distribute the kits to those staying in camps, sleeping in their car or living in other places that aren’t meant for people to live. Gather friends and family to create outreach kits filled with essentials like hygiene products, snacks, and basic first aid supplies. You can provide all the supplies or ask guests to contribute items from a prepared list, sharing the responsibility equally. This guide will help you organize a successful and enjoyable kit-making event.
Steps to Host a Kit-Making Event
Invite participants: Reach out to friends, family, or coworkers.
Set up an assembly line: Lay out boxes or bins of outreach items on tables, starting with Ziploc baggies (quart or sandwich size usually works best). Either pass the bags down the line, adding items as the bag goes around or have each person grab from different piles to assemble a bag. Both methods are effective and fun.
Complete all kits: Work together until all kits are assembled.
Drop off the kits: Deliver the finished kits to the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness office. We are open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our address is:
3427 E. Tudor Road, Suite A
Anchorage, AK 99507
Thank you for supporting your vulnerable neighbors. If you have any questions, please contact us at communications@aceh.org.
