Community shares best practices

Yvonne Humphery, Director of Policy and Planning for the Coalition, at the May Housing Retention Case Conference.

Our Housing Retention Case Conferencing has generated helpful tools and tips for case managers working to ensure that clients who have been housed, stay housed. The group meets on the last Tuesday of the month to share ideas and then discuss individual cases for those who are part of an information-sharing agreement. Meanwhile, if anyone has a client at risk of losing their housing, please reach out to Mac, Yvonne or Ziona on our team. We are here to help!

The guest speaker in May was Karlo Mercene speaking about the United Way’s Landlord Housing Partnership, which includes rent incentives for landlords. Case managers must make the request.

Additional recent tips include:

  • The Alaska Court System operates a one-time eviction diversion program to help those who just need a little help to get through a hard time.

  • The Third Avenue Resource & Navigation Center is operating as a one-stop center for clients. Here is the provider schedule.

  • The Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority offers mini-grants of up to $2,5000 once a year for equipment, supplies and services that improve life for trust beneficiaries.
